Privacy policy

What we store

• Your account: email address, name, date of birth (to check you are 18 or older), gender, profile photos, a short bio, your interests and the languages you speak.
• Profile basics, only if you add them and only the ones you choose: height, job, the city you live in, education, star sign, whether you drink or smoke, how often you work out, your diet, pets, kids and personality. Other people see them on your profile; you can change or remove each one any time in Edit profile.
• Sensitive information you choose to share: the intent you share with a request (just company or open to a date).
• Your plans, your requests to join other people’s plans, and the messages you send in plan chats.
• The person you trust: their name and phone number stay on your phone. Their email reaches us only while an automatic home-safe alert is on for a plan, and is deleted once you confirm you’re home or the alert is sent.
• Your location is used to show nearby plans and distances; we don’t keep a history of where you have been. A location you choose to share in a plan chat is stored with that message.

Signing in with Google or Apple

• Google: we receive your Google account ID, your verified email address and your first name, and use them only to sign you in, link your accounts and suggest your first name. We don’t access your contacts, calendar, Drive, Gmail or any other Google data. Our use of information from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
• Apple: we receive your Apple account ID and the email Apple shares with us (it can be a private relay address), and use them only to sign you in.
• Deleting your account deletes the stored Google or Apple account ID. You can also remove MeetNow’s access from your Google Account or Apple ID settings.

Photo check selfie

A person on our team compares your selfie with your profile photos by hand. Only staff see it; it never appears on your profile. We delete the selfie as soon as the check is decided (pass or fail) or you withdraw it, and a new selfie replaces any earlier one still waiting. Only the verified badge and its date stay on your profile.

How you use the app

We record app usage events tied to your account to improve MeetNow and to keep people safe. They are: when you sign in or out and how (email code, Google or Apple), which screens you open, which buttons and features you use (for example posting a plan, asking to join, saving a plan, searching), and basic facts about the phone: iOS or Android, the app version and the operating system version. Before you sign in, events carry a random install ID instead of your account, and are linked to your account when you sign in. We never put the text of your messages, your email, your location or your search words in these events.

• Who sees them: our staff, for aggregate numbers and, when looking into a safety concern, for one person’s trail. Every time staff open a person’s trail it is written to a staff log.
• How long: 13 months, then they are deleted automatically.
• Deleting your account deletes all of them. Download my data includes them.
• Your choice: you can switch usage analytics off in Settings › Your data and privacy. The app then stops sending screen and button events. We still keep your sign-ins and safety-related events (reports, blocks, photo checks, home-safe alerts), because we need them to keep people safe.

Emails and news

Emails the app needs, we send anyway: sign-in codes, and home-safe alerts to the person you trust. Everything else is your choice and off until you say yes: news and tips about MeetNow by email, a digest of plans near you by email, and news by push notification. You choose when you sign up (one box) and can change each one any time in Settings › Emails and news. Every such email has an unsubscribe link that works with one click, no sign-in. We keep the date you made or changed the choice. We never give your email address to other companies for their own marketing.

Who sees what

• Hosts see your profile and record when you ask to join, never your location.
• Reports are read by our team and never shown to the person reported.

Your rights

You can download your data from Settings › Your data and privacy › Download my data, and correct your profile at any time.

Delete your account

In the app, go to Settings › Your data and privacy › Delete my account and confirm. Without the app, email support@trymeetnow.com from the address you sign in with and we delete the account within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your profile, your photos, the plans you host (and their chats), your requests and your track record. Messages you sent in other people’s plan chats stay in those chats without your name.
